Josef Chajim Leitner, 11. Nisan 5673 (Freitag, 18. April 1913)
Update 19.
Anmerkung: MORENU bedeutet wörtlich “u(nser) L(ehrer), H(err)”.

He is also the great-grandson of Joel Leipen and Esterl.
Very important, thank you Carole, I’ve linked both great-grandparents :)
He was the son of Albert (Asher Falk) Leitner and Fani (Frumat) Schieiber. His name is found on an extensive Leitner family tree on Geni.com.
Dear Carole Vogel,
I am a grandson of Josef Chajim Leitner and appear in the Leitner family tree on Geni. com. I am very anxious to receive a photo of the gravestone of Albert (Asher Falk) Leitner the father of Josef Chajim, who is also buried in Mattersburg. Do you know if a copy exists?.
The gravestone of Josef Chajim’s mother Fani (Frumat) appears on page 6 of the Scheva Kehillot Mattersburg website
http://www.vhs-burgenland.at/downloads/judgem/06mattersburg1.pdf
The gravestone of Albert’s (Asher Falk) mother appears
in the OJM Mattersburg website
And my last question is if you, Carole Vogel, are also a descendant of Joel Leipner and Esterl Leipen, I did not find your name in the Geni.com websites. I found other relatives by the name of Vogel who are descendants of my great-grandfather Albert (Ascher Falk) Leitner.
Hope to hear from you. with best regards
Philipp Leitner
Dear Philipp,
I do not know of the existence of the photo that you are seeking. I assume that if there was a photograph, in the OJM collection Herr Johannes Reiss would have posted it with the other Leitner photos.
So your best bet is to contact every Leitner on Geni and ask them if they have a copy. Apparently during the late 1920s or early 1930s a private photographer took photographs of the the individual graves in the Mattersdorf cemetery and sold them to family members. So far I have found the grave photos of my great-grandfather and his first cousin.
Start with people who had an easy time leaving Austria (or whose parents or grandparents had an easy time) as they are the ones most likely to have gotten family photographs out of Europe.
While you are contacting them, ask if they have any old photographs, documents, and letters. Ask them to talk to the oldest living members of their families or to a younger member who has a keen sense of family history.
There is a Mattersdorf Families Group on Facebook with about 50 members. Let me know if you are interested in joining .
I am not a descendant of the Leipen/Leitner family that I know of. We are, however, related through marriage.I have contacted you through Geni.
Best,
Carole
Dear Philipp, dear Carole,
it seems that we do not have a photo (and transcription) of Albert (Asher Falk) Leitner among the Isidor Oeher material.
But we’ll make photos of each gravestone in the wall at the cemetery soon…
@Philipp Leitner,
Dear Philipp
my great great grandfather was Osher Falk Leitner.
I have a picture of his gravestone as well as pictures of him and his wife Frumet.
please send your email and I will forward them to you.
regards
Katy
