You write “she lies buried [here].” In Hebrew we would write it: טמונה/קבורה and not נקברת/נטמנת which means, in English: She is being put to rest, being buried.

In German we find:

1. “Sie wurde bestattet (begraben)” (נקברה/נטמנה), meaning: she was put to her last rest.

and

2. “Sie ist bestattet (begraben)” (נקברת/נטמנת), meaning: she lies buried [here].

Your first reference – Kalje bat Schlomo.
Here we find many grammar mistakes: זוגו and not זוגתו
ביתה היתה פתוחה instead of ביתה היה פתוח; instead , נקברה נפטרה it is נקברת נפטרת.
It is also interesting to note that on that gravestone the DALET and the RESH are written the same way. Actually all are RESH and none are DALET.
Your second reference I cannot read.
In the third – Ella bat Akiwa I read נפטרה and not נפטרת.

Whatever the reason of these writings, I hope that you agree, that in our context, נטמנת is grammatically wrong

@ Johannes. נטמנת means that she is put to rest at this moment. That surely is not the case as she is already buried at the time that the gravestone was put up. See also ( היא מוצאת (בראשית לח, כד.
She was put to rest in the past, therefore נטמנה.

Am very surprised that נפטרת, נקברת are used in the present term on tombstones.

Danke! Gut, dann lass ich es so. Übrigens hast du mir mit deinem Kommentar sehr geholfen, denn durch die Richtungsangabe im Quelltext sind nun auch die Punkte für “Sehende” richtiger gesetzt, nämlich rechts von den Zahlen, da man diese ja auch von links nach rechts liest. Da gehen die Steinmetze bei Grabinschriften oft nicht ganz sauber damit um.
Die Jahreszahl lass ich wirklich (kriegs leider auch nicht sauberer hin), der Punkt sitzt – zumindest für mich – dort, wo er sitzen soll, nämlich am Schluss des Textes, also in diesem Fall links von der Zahl.

Es sieht für meinen Screen Reader “sauberer” aus. Die Jahreszahl am Schluss musst du nicht extra umstellen; das wäre aber ein interessantes Experiment, zumal der dazugehörige Punkt bei mir an ganz anderer Stelle steht, als er sollte.

Aber dafür kann auch mein Screen Reader verantwortlich sein.

An der Jahreszahl arbeit ich dann noch, wenn ich weiß, dass es der richtige Weg ist ;)

Eine harte Nuss ist der Familienname, aber ich werde mich gerne an dem Rätsel versuchen.
