@Johannes: The link is not correct. There were two men named Mendel Deutsch who were contemporaries. One was Mendel Deutsch (Sofer) and the other was Mendel Deutsch (P”K).

I have (once more) changed the URL’s to get a clearly arranged archive of names… so the “Sopher”‘s you’ll find as “Deutsch …”!

He was orphaned as a boy and went to live with his uncle, Rabbi Eliezer Lipschitz. Before Rabbi Lipschitz died he asked Aaron Singer to marry the daughter of his brother-in-law, Mendel Deutsch (Sofer). So in 1838, Aaron Singer married Zelda Deutsch, the daughter of Mendel Deutsch (Sofer) and Chanela Sofer (possibly from the Sofer-Steinhof family). They had seven children, including Beila Krassel Singer who married Rabbi Josef Pressburger. (Thank you , Yitzchok Stroh, for recounting this story to me.)
