Carole, this is a great idea, I like the vision of such a cemetery!
I think we have to verify our hypothesis, means we have to collect as many examples as possible. Than we’ll see if the similarity of the style of gravestones is a reliable parameter.

I think it would be possible to create a virtual cemetery to replace the one destroyed in the Holocaust by using the information in the metrical records and the Chevra Kaddisha ledgers. For many of the deceased we might even be able to get the shape of the original stone correct because we know the shape of of the stones of other family members.

I don’t think this ever been done before for any other destroyed Jewish cemetery.
