This is the sister-in-law of Hendl Kohn. Betti (Breindl) Deutsch was the daughter of Moshe Mordechai Kohn. She was born circa 1813 in Mattersdorf and her mother’s name was likely Beila.

On 18 Dec 1841, Betti married Markus Deutsch, who shows up in Hebrew records as Mordechai Sofer. He was the son of David Hirsch Deutsch and Mali (Marie) Kohn. The Deutsch-Sofer family can be traced back to the early 1700s.

Betti (Breindl) and Marcus (Mordechai) had four known children:
1. Katy Deutsch, born 1842
2. Abraham Mayer Deutsch, born 1847 and likely named in memory of his mother’s brother, Abraham Kohn who had died six months earlier of typhus
3. Betti Deutsch (1848-1876) who married Isak Lazar Singer the son of Rabbi Aaron Singer
4. Rudolf (Reuven Mayer) Deutsch who married Aloysis Teibeles (spelling?)
